About this course
The Margherita Planters Club Golf Course is situated at Namdang Tea Estate of Mcleod Russel India Limited under the Williamson Magor Group of Enterprises & is about 2 Kms from Margherita Town. The course is supposed to be the best in Assam wrt its topography, undulating fairways, the surrounding scenery & the hills on the north. There is unfortunately no past record available wrt the origins of golfing here nor about the architect & pioneers who created left this legacy.
The tee-off area is much below the course elevation & on many a occasion, the balls kiss the electricity line leading to Arunachal Pradesh. The maintenance of the course is excellent throughout the year with support from Dehing, Dirok, Margherita & Namdang Tea Estates. Mr A. K. Shukla broke the course record on 29th May 1994 with a card of 69, that had a front nine 36 & a back nine 33.
